Obama is 'Pastor-Less'

Jeremiah Wright is destroying Barack Obama. So much so that Obama, has come out and formally disagreed with Wright, the guy he has been listening to for 20 years talk his hate speech. Wright knows what he is doing. He is so peeved at Obama for stating that he does not agree with Wright or that Wright was not his mentor, et al. that he is going around the country giving speeches to the contrary. Who to believe? Obama is right to disown Wright, but the damage has already been done. No one believes that after 20 years of attending this maniac’s so-called church that Obama didn’t have some of his nonsense sink in.

Obama has stated again this week that he didn’t fully know Wright’s views and that he didn’t attend the church regularly. He is lying. Obama may not have been there everyday, but he certainly heard this guy go on and on about hating America and white people. This ‘black liberation’ movement as its called is definitely ingrained in Obama’s head, or at least Wright’s version of it is. Case in point: Obama’s comments about heartland America regarding bitterness. We all know who he directed that to.

A month ago during Obama’s BIG speech on race that the liberal press went gaga over:
“I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community. I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother.”

Remember that? So I guess Barack will not be going to any African American Events in his hometown anymore, nor will he be calling his grandmother ever again. There is a reason why everyone is still talking about this, and that reason is Rev. Wright. If he did not respond and kept quiet, Obama would probably have gotten away with something huge. But the pressure on Wright’s ego was too much to handle. A pastor is not to have an ego, although many do, it is not part of theology. Maybe Wright’s theology is no theology at all but rather a reincarnated 60’s Black Panther dogma.

Whatever it is, Wright is not going away any time soon, and Americans are now seeing Barack for who he really is, which is exactly what I said he was months upon months ago. You are known by the company you keep but even more so by the company that you double crossed. Obama was to be the great race ‘Uniter’. Now it looks like he is going to be the great “Divider.”

UFC: Obama vs. Hillary

Coming to a TV near you? That would be something.

To some Obama losing Pennsylvania was not that big of a deal. After all he is still ahead in delegates and only lost by 10 points. To others, the 10 points he lost by is a huge margin. He has been slipping further down in polls, meanwhile, Hillary is moving up. If you could put both of them in the ring who would win? Hillary of course! Obama would run away and hide, just like he is doing now.

Barack is making mistakes, which Hillary is proudly pointing out in all of her ‘attack ads’. And Obama is running away like a scared little chicken. He knows that if he enters another debate he will lose. He has done horribly in recent debates because the questions are too hard for him to answer, well, hard for him to answer honestly. Questions about Rev. Wright, his ‘bitterness’ comments, Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn will surface once again. Last time Obama could not answer them, truthfully. We saw Mr. Orator turn into Mr. Mumble mouth. If it’s written on the page, he can read it, but if he’s trying to come up with something off the top of his head forget about it. Hillary’s people know this, so they want more debates. Obama is afraid. He should be.

In his speech after the primary on Tuesday, it appears Obama continues to believe that since he is the only candidate that is for ‘Hope and Change’ aka the new ‘Ambassador of Hope’, a cause that many believe is as empty as I think his head is, it causes him to receive more criticism thus creating distractions on his ‘issues’, which we are still waiting for specifics on many by the way:

“After fourteen long months, it’s easy to forget this from time to time – to lose sight of the fierce urgency of this moment. It’s easy to get caught up in the distractions and the silliness and the tit-for-tat that consumes our politics; the bickering that none of us are immune to, and that trivializes the profound issues – two wars, an economy in recession, a planet in peril.”

Apparently Obama has no idea where he is or what he is doing. The only one losing sight (along with votes) is him. The criticisms he is receiving from Clinton, among others, are all apart of politics. He sounds like a cry-baby who doesn’t like to be picked on. All this talk about hope and change and we see that he cannot change and is hopeless: From wanting to sit down with Iranians, to having a racist wacko preacher as a mentor, to telling middle America that you are bitter so you turn to God and guns, and a wife who isn’t exactly a spokesperson for patriotism. What else will we uncover as time continues? Republicans, and more importantly, John McCain hope for a lot more.

In polls, Hillary has a lead in Indiana and Kentucky. Things are a bit tighter in North Carolina.

Too bad these two cannot duke it out physically. My money would be on Hillary. Something tells me she uses Bill as a punching bag. It would get the highest ratings on cable for sure.

Obama and Race?

Today in the NY Times, Nicholas Kristof wrote an Op-Ed entitled the exact same as this piece here that I am about to deliver to you. I plan on taking issue with his editorial for multiple reasons. This op-ed in the NY Times was not a surprise, in fact, it was expected. Kristof tries to point out that white America does not understand Black America so therefore we do not understand Rev. Wright’s speech.

Nicholas, I’m sorry, but if you are saying that it’s a ‘black thing’ and that we don’t understand ‘black things’ you are way off base. I understood when I heard Wright talk aggressively about blaming white America for everything that goes wrong in the country. He is claiming to be a victim of white and government persecution, yet he has, it seems, a successful life with a very large church with a large ‘following’. He isn’t exactly broke either. So apparently this victim mentality is as pointless as his speeches.

Kristof continues, “Mr. Wright has indeed made some outrageous statements. But he should be judged as well by his actions — including a vigorous effort to address poverty, ill health, injustice and AIDS in his ministry. Mr. Wright has been frightfully wrong on many topics, but he was right on poverty, civil rights and compassion for AIDS victims.”

Outrageous statements? You could say that. Wright has blamed the US government for spreading AIDS in this country. He also claims that the government is responsible for selling crack cocaine to lower income black areas in the country. So, how exactly, Nicholas, do you come to the conclusion that Wright is working hard for these issues when all he does is take the victim mentality. Kristof mentions a man who goes to Wright’s church saying that his message is really about “Hope”. Hope for what? Hope to blame everybody but yourself for the behavior of certain aspects of society? If Wright was the correct man of God then he would not just be critical of the government and privileged, he would be critical of the people who are using drugs, having children out of wedlock and committing crimes. Last I checked it wasn’t just black people who do those things but whites, Hispanics and even Asians too. His work has concentrated on the wrong thing. He could also take a page out of Bill Cosby’s playbook and discuss responsibility instead of victim-mentality.

“All of this demonstrates that a national dialogue on race is painful, awkward and essential. And that dialogue needs to focus not on clips from old sermons by Mr. Wright but on far more urgent challenges — for example, that about half of black males do not graduate from high school with their class.”

Right you are there Nicholas, but every time a white person tries to have a dialogue about these issues they get cast down as a racist. One cannot have a discussion if one believes anything he is going to say is wrong and is going to offend the other party in the discussion. The other person is already expecting something offensive to come out when its not meant to be that way. Where as the people who were offended by Wright’s sermons get looked at like they have no business getting so upset and crying foul. Well, look at the big picture. It’s a double edged sword. I think people are tired of hearing about people who are always feeling sorry for themselves and blaming others for their situation. As a pastor, why not address that issue and uplift those who are downtrodden instead of giving them more reason to be miserable? Just a suggestion.

“Gail Collins is off today”. – Good for her, then maybe she didn’t read that horrible Op-Ed.
But you can if you want here : http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/20/opinion/20kristof.html?bl&ex=1206158400&en=0d1e9305b145f292&ei=5087%0A

Tough questions for Hillary and Obama?

Is it me, or are the democratic candidates not being asked the questions that matter.

We have yet to hear Obama’s foreign policy plan. For all we know he is going to go to Iran by himself and smoke some hash with Mahmoud. He could hang out with Chavez and watch some Lethal Weapon movies. Or better yet, he could go over to Putin’s house and play the game RISK and lose. There are no questions from any reporter on anything foreign policy related that I’ve seen. No serious ones anyway. What bothers me more is that the questions to both Obama and Clinton all revolve around health care, the environment and the almighty Global Warming! Now that we’ve had one of the coldest winters on record, if not the coldest, and that over the last century temperatures have gone down, not up, they still think our planet is warming. Years ago they warned of an ice age in the future. In the 80’s we had the Ozone layer and yes, the almighty global warming. When will it end? I get called a fear monger when I discuss the war on terror which is a REAL situation with REAL consequences. But when someone discusses global warming they get a prize. If we do not handle the terrorists there will be no country to save from climate change. (thats the P.C. term for Global Warming)

Now, Obama likes to try to quote Jesus in his speeches. This from a guy who was raised by and around Muslims and claims to be a Christian. I dont care so much about his upbringing, I only care about his lying about who he really is.

He has no idea what the Sermon on the Mount means. Apparently his pastor at his church doesn’t know either.  Obama also went so far to say that The Sermon on the Mount makes more sense than some 'obscure passage in Romans'.  I assume that his church does not cover anything after the Gospel of John.  Never mind reading any of Paul's letters.  What is so hard to understand in Romans Barack?  Have you read it?  Probably not.

Could you imagine if Romney was up on the stage talking about religious values as wantonly as Obama? It would be a media fiasco! People yelling “separation of church and state!” “This guy is too religious.” But in the meantime we have Obama trying to quote from the Bible, horribly I might add, and nobody says anything. Why? Because he is trying to prove to you that he is a Christian. Now he may be, he may not be, but honestly, as a Christian myself, and many of you are too, do you go around PROVING that you are by trying to quote scripture or tell stories from the Bible? Not very often. And what makes me laugh is that all of his supporters think he’s smart and so sophisticated. What a waste.

Again I ask, where are the tough questions to these candidates on foreign policy? Nowhere. Obama wants to end wars with Islamo-fascists because he’s buddies with them? Bin Laden is sitting in his cave watching his plasma TV laughing right now. We have conservative talk show hosts telling their listeners to vote for Hillary now. Why? Because Obama is a danger to this nation. It only took them a year to figure that out. I’ve said all along that Hillary would do a much better job protecting Americans than Obama. But she certainly is no John McCain. Whoever the lefties nominate, it will be McCain’s job to convince all Americans that they are wrong and he is right. Lots of luck John, just don’t mention Obama’s middle name or the left wing media will fry cook you.

Another wasted night at the Oscars

I’d like to thank the academy for providing us with the worst Oscars in recent memory.  Multiple hours of nothingness led by John Stewart.  Its hard to believe that the writers strike was over because this ceremony was horrible.  Maybe they went back to the ceremony they had planned without writers, or maybe the writers are just that bad.  They ran clip after clip after clip with no real content.  The presenters looked like they were on some downer drug and everyone who won was foreign!  I need to check to see when the last time all Americans won at the British academy awards.  Not that I am complaining, I thought that Daniel Day-Lewis was by far the best actor and I loved seeing George “Darfur” Clooney get snubbed.   It didn’t really matter because no one was watching it anyway.  According to Neilson this was the worst ratings since 2003 which was the worst over all.

What was even worse was the red carpet show prior to the awards themselves.  I love it when actresses who know nothing about foreign policy, war or our country, wear little orange ribbons for the closing of Gitmo.  Julie Christie, I’m talking to you. She apparently has been there so many times and have seen the conditions and believe we are keeping these people imprisoned against their will. Wrong, she has never been there.  The only torture the prisoners are really receiving is when we make them watch the movies these people are in.  I’m so happy that foreigners can come to our country, make lots of money and then tell us off.  I think there was only 1 or 2 people wearing those ribbons anyway, you can see that concept really caught on.  Retirement was the right thing to do Julie, no need to try politics this late in your life.  Dr. Zhivago is waiting.

I find it funny that if Hollywood hates America so much, perhaps they should move to Cuba.  Since according to Michael Moore Cuba’s health care is better than ours, and his movie ‘Sicko’ was nominated for an academy award this year, maybe all of the Hollywood left will defect to Cuba.  We can only hope.  I liked when they introduced the troops in Iraq to present an award.  Tom Hanks made no mention of them as troops or anything, just people who haven’t been home in awhile.  And there were no ‘Thank-You’s’ to the troops, nor did he say ‘we appreciate what you are doing for us’ it was nothing, cut right to the troops then that was it.  Horrible.   Notice, however, anti-war movies such as The Valley of Elah or Lions for Lambs were not nominated.  At least they got that right.

It doesn’t really matter, nobody watched it, anyway.  They were all watching Zoolander on TBS.

A Case for McCain

Romney dropped out of the race this week and during his announcement at CPAC he gave one of the best conservative speeches in at least the last 15 years. It was amazing. While I was watching this I was thinking, where was this speech before Super Tuesday? Why did they leave it until the end? That was the biggest error of the Romney campaign. Instead of talking about Washington being broken, perhaps he should have given variations on this speech at his rallies, that would have brought more votes and we may actually see Romney ahead.

McCain's speech was not bad either. It was predicted that he was going to try to reach out to conservatives, many of whom hate McCain’s stances on so many issues. Many just hate McCain because they feel he is too liberal. After some thought and reflection after Tuesday night I have come up with a few issues that might interest you regarding McCain. Think of this. Hillary and Obama are 100 times more left wing than McCain could ever be. These issues range in topic, from social to economic, let’s look at them:

Do you support the judges who are pro-abortion and even pro-late term abortion? If you do, then do not vote for McCain.

Do you support restrictions on hand guns? (Gun Control) If you do, then do not vote for McCain.

Do you want your taxes increased every year regardless of your income level? If you do, then do not vote for McCain.

Do you want socialist health care in our country destroying our hospitals and ruining the entire medical field as we know it? If you do, then do not vote for McCain.

Do you want us to leave Iraq without finishing off the terrorists and give them victory so that they can march all the way to our soil and kill us all? If you do then you are crazy and please move away, but do not vote for McCain before you do.

Do you want uncontrolled spending in Washington? Do you want bills that are ear-marked so badly that economy may not be able to recover for decades? If you do then do not vote for McCain.

These are just a few issues that concern conservatives. On each one of these McCain has been quite conservative. I realize he didn’t vote for Bush’s tax cut plan, but he certainly supports cutting taxes, maybe not in the way we wanted at the time. He will not appoint liberal judges to the bench, that’s guaranteed. He will not socialize our health care system. And I think you know he will fight all terrorists and protect us much better than any Democrat would. McCain also wants to rid congress of their over spending aka earmarks. He is a champion for this issue.

It seems to me that working with McCain on these will be easy. We can also work with him on immigration and the first amendment. He is can change his view on immigration to come up with a sound –no amnesty- bill that will work for everyone. We can work with him by getting the tax cuts permanent and find ways to keep jobs in this country. Closing the border is the only way, and I’m sure if he is elected he will get an earful from us on these issues. Yes we have given him a lot to think about over the past month. We have attacked him on several issues. I still believe we need to continue to give this message. McCain does not have blinders on and earplugs in when it comes to our opinions. He can hear and he can read. Hillary and Obama, I’m not so certain.

So is McCain all that bad? Certainly not. Are the 2 Democrats running bad? Guaranteed.

So I ask you to re-read those questions above one more time and think to yourself, who would be better as our President, our candidate John McCain or Hillary/Obama? I think the answer is quite clear.

Super Tuesday?

What an interesting turn of events for this ‘Super Tuesday’
Even at 15.5% of the votes tallied in California McCain holds a steady lead to Romney’s second place. Even though Giuliani and Thompson hold many votes as well, no doubt from absentee ballots as well as the idiots who actually voted for them on the ballot since they were still listed, over 100,000 to be exact.

One must question what is Mitt Romney to do? No one knows, but mighty Mitt. I’m sure by the time you read this we will know more so for the sake of that I will talk about the future. There are still several more primaries to go and as you know nothing is over as no candidate is anywhere near the votes needed to claim 100% victory. I do not foresee Mitt Romney dropping out as of yet. If he is able to pick up more delegates than a surprising Mike Huckabee at the end of the tally then he is definitely the second place finisher. Is this enough to make John McCain choose him as his running mate? Is this enough to make conservatives vote for John McCain? After seeing many conservatives dismissing John McCain completely, and seeing the amount of votes on the democratic side, one must admit that a McCain/Romney ticket would be much better than a McCain/Huckabee ticket in November. After all if it’s a Clinton/Obama ticket, then we really have something to talk about. Be that as it may, ultimately, John McCain must seriously consider this as many will not vote for him in November. This is wrong. As a party we must welcome whoever the candidate is and vote for him. We must have faith that this individual will carry out the conservative principles we hold dear and follow our instructions as his voters. McCain will not be able to open the borders. He will have to back tax cuts and make them permanent. And he will definitely need to convince millions that he is the man for the job.

If Romney were to be invited to be McCain’s running mate, Romney will definitely have to think of McCain’s age. Is it possible for a man to be president until he is 80 years old? Is it possible that McCain could run for 1 term, God forbid have health issues and not seek a second term? Is it possible for a president to seek council from a VP for once? Certainly. But we must see that because of these strange circumstances anything is possible.  Good and bad.

I will ask the remaining voters to vote in their elections, not just for a front runner, but assuming Romney remains in the election through March 4th, which it looks like he will, to consider him as your candidate. Conventions are funny things. And if no candidate has the amount of delegates needed to claim victory, so we still have a choice in our candidate.

Alliances in the GOP?

Is it possible that voters who vote for Huckabee are actually voting for John McCain?
I didnt realize that John McCain was looking for a running mate.  In fact, the funny thing is that most people would have liked to see Romney and Huck together ultimately.  But apparently since McCain doesnt think he will ever get an evangelical vote, he is trying to form an alliance.  We saw what happened in West Virginia.  Even with endorsements from so many Talk Show hosts such as Laura Ingraham, Romney needs votes to win delegates.
I will be voting for Mitt Romney today here in California and I hope those of you out west who haven't yet will do the same.  We  know that he is the best conservative candidate.  But does the rest of the country? We shall see.

A vote for Mitt is a vote for success in this nation.

Democracy and Super Delegates

Super Tuesday means much more to the Republican party. Why, you may ask? Because of Super Delegates of course! The DNC chooses their nominee not the democratic voter. I couldn’t believe that this slipped my mind, and perhaps it slipped yours also. Reading an article yesterday regarding this exact situation blew me away. Basically, there are 842 un-pledged super delegates which are almost 40% of the total delegates needed to get the nomination. None of these delegates are chosen by the voter. Who are they chosen by? Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, Al Gore and many who were appointed by Howard Dean. Wow! It really makes you want to join the Democratic party. After all, DEMOCRACY does not exist in that party. They have Obama who is an invented candidate. Yes, he was and still is. He was created and thrown into this election by the media and other media personalities, I.E. Oprah. No one heard of this guy prior to the media giving all their attention to him. You could argue that the Clinton machine was responsible for this because they chose a guy most people figured would be unlikely to get the nomination. For several reasons, 1) his background and where he lived previously, 2) questions about his religion, 3) the fact no one knows who he is, 4) yes, even the color of skin was part of the scenario. The latter generates a media circus because he is now not only the first African-American to win a primary/caucus, but he really is the first to actually have a chance. Former African-American candidates were simply hopeless, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton to name a couple. The problem with this theory is that Obama forgets that it’s the Clinton left wing machine that is controlling things. She will get the nomination because of the super-delegates.

Did the Clintons misjudge Obama? You bet. He is taking this seriously, and he should. He does have a shot in his mind. The Clintons figured he was a throw away and would never win anything, and he would even make Hillary look more moderate. They were not counting on his recent surge which is pulling him closer day by day. They did not count on Obama making Hillary look even more liberal. We will know more after Super-Tuesday.

But I hate to be a fly in Obama’s ointment. He will never win the nomination because he lacks the ‘Super-Delegates’. Unless the DNC is persuaded otherwise their candidate is Hillary, she was their candidate right after the 2000 election, kind of like liberal John McCain for the GOP. I wonder if we live in a democracy after all.

McCain should know better.

Last night John McCain stuck to his lying ways when he continued to state that Mitt Romney was for timetables for withdrawal of troops from Iraq.  We all know that this is not the case.  The main stream media loves a good fight especially between Republicans, but enough is enough.  McCain has twisted Romney’s words around and its obvious.  What Romney said was that he supported President Bush’s decision to have private benchmarks with Iraqi leaders.  This is also obvious because we do not need our benchmarks leaked to the press so that the terrorists can exploit a weakness.  John McCain should know better.  After all, isn’t he the war hero?  McCain also stated that Romney did not make a decision backing the troop surge while Romney was the governor of Massachusetts.  Romney certainly did not have access to the classified material that McCain did, nor was he briefed in full about the surge.  But after the surge was announced last January, Romney, did in fact, back the plan.  McCain should know better.

McCain certainly knows what he’s talking about on Iraq, after all this is his job.  But on ‘water-boarding’ I think he is way off base.  “Torture never works” he says.  I understand that McCain was a POW and no doubt tortured by the NVA, but we must remember that ‘water-boarding’ is in no where near the treatment he received and he knows well that our prisoners in Gitmo are treated extremely well.  McCain knows that water-boarding works.  It has been proven to work and has saved thousands of American lives.  If these wacko Islamic fundamentalists need to be submerged for a 30 seconds to give up their terrorist plots, I am all for it.   John McCain, you should be too.  McCain should know better.

In Wednesday night’s debate, McCain took a cheap shot at Romney by stating that when Romney helped turn around those companies he helped that he didn’t care about the worker who lost his job.  This is certainly not the case.  McCain doesn’t know much about business or how in order to make money you need to cut some corners.  If a business is failing, you have to let some people go, and many times you don’t want to do that, but that’s business.  They are certainly compensated.  But for someone who has had the same non-business job for 25 years, I wouldn’t expect him to understand how any business works.  He certainly understands how Washington works.  Romney understands how Washington doesn’t work and must be fixed.  Maybe some Senators and Congressmen should lose their jobs.

In reality, all this bickering is bad for the Republican party.  These two men are taking shots at each other instead of debating the issues.  This is something that can be taken advantage of by the Democrats if they so choose.  For that, both McCain and Romney should know better.

The Fight Goes On!

McCain’s win in Florida does not spell disaster for Mitt Romney, in fact it spells disaster to the remaining candidates. Giuliani is done and his support going to McCain will give McCain a slight edge going into next Tuesday. The independent vote is needed by McCain. Many experts argue that that is the only way to beat the Democrats in November. McCain/Giuliani in Novemeber? You know, that would be something.

Huckabee is still in the race, why? Who knows. He won Iowa and that was nice, but not good enough in my opinion. Will he support Romney? Christians and Mormons unite! I’ve been saying all along that Huckabee would make a good Vice President. He is a younger guy, only 52 years old. Lots of time left on his political clock. Romney was close in Florida. Conservatives still like him a lot more than McCain, obviously. They understand that McCain is too left leaning to get any of the conservative agenda accomplished. But apparently the common voter does not. They pick the person not the policy.

Another problem is you have independent voters who lean more to the left voting for McCain. I read recently that many independent voters are registering as Republicans to vote in closed elections. How strange would it be in November when the exit polls show an overwhelming majority of Republicans voted for Clinton!

I realize that the TV guys have nothing better to talk about but trying to predict the future; their future is McCain. The mainstream glows over him like he is their new born baby. They dismiss Romney as being plastic and pandering. How can it be pandering if you are stating facts that people actually LIKE to hear? Next Tuesday is a big one. If Huckabee stays in the race through this then you probably will see McCain rise. After all, those who voted for Huckabee would be more likely to vote for Romney than McCain. The big delegate states are the key for Romney. If he loses the majority of those to McCain, he’s done. If he splits them, we may be waiting for the convention for the nomination. If he takes more of them, he is on his way. We wait and wait and wait. Next Tuesday will be a long night. I will cast my vote and watch the TV like many of you as the results roll in. Hopefully they will be accurate.

Mitt Romney for President!

What an interesting month we have had! It’s only going to get better. Which is why after much deliberation, I have decided to endorse Mitt Romney for the Republican nomination and of course for President. In thinking about this, I realized that Mitt has the best of all the candidates. None of them are perfect and to quote many other conservative writers ‘none are Ronald Reagan’, but Romney has the core conservative principles that will make him the better President over his rivals.

On a side note:
I wish to remind Fox News that ‘flip-flopping’ requires you to change your mind, some would argue, as I would, change it more than once on an issue, hence FLIP and FLOP. I do not see Romney flip-flopping, maybe he flipped, but he certainly hasn’t flopped. We must all understand when people change their minds on issues, or amplify their responses, they are making a correction in their lives. Its better to admit that you were wrong in my opinion, that is respectable. Romney’s competitors have flipped and even flopped on numerous occasions. We can’t hold many of these against them. If a candidate wishes to change their mind on the issue to agree 100% with me, then I am all for that. Maybe they read these articles.

In all seriousness, Gov. Romney shares his views quite openly and honestly not 'plastic' or 'fake' as many analysts call him. Maybe they would like Romney to beef up his image and wear a biker jacket.

On the issues: he is for REAL immigration reform that includes enforcing the borders and laws we have now including some sort of ID card and punishing employers. That’s a good start. He is the best conservative candidate because he believes in limited government, free markets especially in dealing with health care. He has the knowledge and the business know how to help a country which is facing a major financial crisis. He is also for school choice which is an issue President Bush dropped quite quickly after he was in office. He is also for traditional marriage and family values. These are social issues, but they are very important to many voters. Gov. Romney understands that having 2 parents, a mother and a father, are much better and healthier for the child. I’m certain he understands that it is important that parents have more involvement in their children's lives from the TV they watch to the school they attend. All of this will benefit our society in the future.

We have been in need of a person with a strong head for business to run this country for decades. Mitt Romney has the that experience and will make executive decisions like a CEO, not a poll-a-tition. As with any republican, he will have a battle on their hands this fall. I believe that Romney will win if he concentrates on 2 important issues: the economy and national security. Social issues can be pushed to a distant third. Not that they aren’t as important, but I feel that more Americans are looking for a leader to be fiscally responsible first and social second.

My choice is Gov. Romney and I will continue to make my case for him as the election season continues to heat up. If you need to find a combination of all the candidates rolled into one, then look no further than Mighty Mitt! I may expect a lot from him, but we really shouldn’t expect any less, he’s a great guy.

McCain's Issues

Funny how Medved and I disagree on this, but unfortunately we will have to agree to disagree.
Wrote this on my personal blog yesterday, thought I would share it:

1/21/2008:

No surprises this weekend as Mitt Romney won in Nevada and McCain in South Carolina. Although South Carolina was a close call, McCain wins due to the large military presence in that state. This goes to show you that this race is very tight and requires immense scrutiny of the candidates if we are every going to pick the right man for the job. In the past week there has been a little battle in talk radio land between Michael Medved and several of his colleagues. Although, I only was able to hear Laura Ingraham’s response to Medved’s Townhall blog, I will assume that several others probably read it and commented on it. Medved likes Mike Huckabee and John McCain, this is obvious and more power to him. One thing that may bother me about any host is that they must remember that if their audience may or may not agree with them. I certainly do not agree with Medved or John McCain 100%.

John McCain has his mistakes listed on his website as REAL issues:

1) John McCain believes taxes should be low, simple, and fair and has a track record of commitment to these principles.

Why did he vote against tax cut plans/bills by President Bush and others in Congress? Because he does not believe in lower taxes. Everyone on Wall Street agreed that the tax cut plan by the President was the catalyst for the gains in the economy. Apparently McCain never got that memo.

2) McCain on Border Security and Immigration Reform : I have always believed that our border must be secure and that the federal government has utterly failed in its responsibility to ensure that it is secure. If we have learned anything from the recent immigration debate, it is that Americans have little trust that their government will honor a pledge to do the things necessary to make the border secure.

Well we all know where he stands on this issue. This is a LIE. The only part of this statement that’s true is that we Americans do not trust the Government to take care of this issue. We certainly do not trust McCain to come up with immigration reform. He has no interest in securing the border properly otherwise he never would have said “I’ll give you your G.D. fence” (fill in the blanks). He also created one of the worst bills in history while working with Ted Kennedy, the Immigration Reform Act. This IRA was code for amnesty and open borders. Of course the American people spoke up and that bill was killed. I wonder if President McCain would sign that bill. I wonder if he will really build that G.D. Fence? -- Probably not.

3) John McCain believes Roe v. Wade is a flawed decision that must be overturned, and as president he will nominate judges who understand that courts should not be in the business of legislating from the bench. Constitutional balance would be restored by the reversal of Roe v. Wade, returning the abortion question to the individual states. The difficult issue of abortion should not be decided by judicial fiat.

McCain does not want to involve the Supreme Court in the reversal of Roe v. Wade. He would rather have states decide if abortion is legal or not. This is not a major problem, but then of course you would have kids going from one state to another to have abortions, creating it a federal situation. How do you handle that John? As usual, check the ID? Also, if he was PROLIFE why would he put his name on a brief filed last year to the Supreme Court (of all bodies) denouncing a pro life organizations commercials? Calling their commercials a violation of the law he and Russ Feingold created. McCain-Feingold at its finest. You can read about it here: http://www.cnsnews.com/ViewNation.asp?Page=/Nation/archive/200706/NAT20070625d.html
Yes that was last year, but how quickly we forget.

I do respect McCain on his service to our country in the armed forces as well as his support for our troops. I will not leave out that he and I do agree on several issues including education choice, certain parts of his national security policy (sans border fence) and the Second Amendment. But many of these are not the top issues and I certainly cannot vote for someone who is misleading Republicans. Is McCain a Republican? Perhaps, but a bit too left wing to be considered CONSERVATIVE.

The Growing Republican Presidential Field

Fred Thompson is considering a run for the Republican nomination for President. He has not, of course, announced this. He is not to be confused with former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson, who has announced his plans to run this past weekend, claims he is the “reliable conservative”. As the field grows larger and larger the front runners are starting to lose support. Candidates are starting to call themselves ‘conservative’. But which one is more conservative? That is for Republicans to decide in the primaries. The funny thing is, if they are all going to argue as to who is more conservative they will be missing out on many important issues that bother the middle of the road Republican, who is considering a vote for a Democrat. Take what happened last November as an example. Conservatism is important, but it’s not the most important quality in a candidate. As we see in recent polls, they show Giuliani still ahead, but this may only be his popularity. Giuliani is not very conservative and middle of the road voters like him. But, a great mayor doesn’t always make a great president. He should not count on a big social conservative vote because he is lacking certain moral values that many social conservatives hold dear. John McCain is holding steady in these polls. He is the one who may actually still grab the nomination, believe it or not. He has a lot of work to do, however, in convincing fellow Republicans that he is not too left wing on many issues, including illegal immigration. The main question surrounding Mitt Romney is obvious, Can a Mormon become President? Good question isn’t it? I remember when they said no Catholic could be elected. How wrong ‘they’ were.

Some of the other, lesser known candidates such as Duncan Hunter and Tom Tancredo offer a hard line stance on illegal immigration and support many social conservative issues. The problem here is that they probably will not gather enough support, money or fame to win the nomination let alone defeat Queen Hillary. This does not mean that these men should not be listened to. If the current top 3 really want to succeed and remain in the top 3, it would do them some good to come out with a stance on illegal immigration and stick with it. Abortion, gay marriage and the war in Iraq are all good issues to discuss, but illegal immigration is definitely a higher priority for many Americans.

Fred Thompson for President? He is conservative. He was a senator. He is an actor. His voting record is very good. He is certainly a tough guy. If he does run, he will definitely be one to consider, listen to and possibly support come primary season.

‘Mr. Ethical’ Barack and his stocks

The New York Times reported Wednesday that ‘Barack Obama bought more than $50,000 worth of stock in two speculative companies whose major investors included some of his biggest political donors.’  One of these companies was a biotech co. that was starting to develop a drug to treat avian flu.

What was Obama’s first order of business in the Senate?  Work on a bill that invested more federal money into avian flu research.   There is no law against senators owning stock.  The only ethical question here is did these campaign contributions influence Obama’s decision making so much that he decided to invest in the same company?  It is a strange coincidence.  A spokesman, Bill Burton, stated that Obama had a blind trust with his broker and had no idea what stocks he was buying.  Let’s get it straight.  He goes in on 2 very speculative companies that are both invested in by his campaign donors including Jared Abbruzzese who is currently involved in another ethics scandal involving the State Senate Majority Leader in New York.  The FBI is investigating this case currently.  One could point out that a lot of people invest in stocks because their friends recommend them, and there is nothing wrong with him investing, apparently.  But when he takes money from these ‘friends’ and uses it to get elected, then proceeds to allow the influence of this money affect what he does in the Senate, then we have a major problem, especially when one of these ‘friends’ is one who has recently ‘emerged as a central figure in a federal investigation.’

These actions are surprising from a guy who refers to ethics reform over and over now that he is running for president.  Maybe he should check his own closet for the ethical skeletons before he gives another speech on ethics.

Another big concern is ‘Mr. Obama, has already had to contend with a controversy that arose out of his reliance on a major campaign contributor in Chicago to help him in a personal financial transaction. In that earlier case, he acknowledged last year that it had been a mistake to involve the contributor, a developer who has since been indicted in an unrelated political scandal, in deals related to the Obamas’ purchase of a home.’

I suppose Harry Reid gave him instructions on how to get away with this as well.  It will not surprise me that the media will never pick up on this. After all, it concerns their superstar candidate.  If they do, it will be such a small story it will die out within a day or two, much like the Harry Reid land deal which nobody has bothered to look into apparently.  If it were a republican you can be sure the left wing media would cover it for weeks until a resignation occurs.  Even though, technically, there is no hard proof of wrong-doing.  But that is why you have an investigation.

Ethics reform is required in the House and the Senate.  We must pass strict laws making it a major felony for our elected officials to use loop holes to take bribes.  This has been going on for far too long and until someone steps up to the plate and attacks these ‘politicians’ for who they really are, I fear we are in for more of the same.  If we can allow our officials to pad their pockets contributions, then we can allow the FBI to investigate these same officials. I doubt that will happen in my lifetime.  One could argue that it’s the peoples fault for electing such selfish criminals.  Placing the blame on the voter is definitely not the answer.  Hopefully we will learn more in the coming week.
